When old materials are used to create different objects it actually brings with it a touch of class from its era. Also the work one puts into creating makes it that much more personal. This one for instance: the mistakes and imperfections made while cutting, gluing, sewing, and folding individualizes the journal and makes it absolutely mine. So the mis-wordings and grammatical mistakes are all part of the makings of the journal; just as the construction of the journal itself.

Stock images
Please do not copy a stock images, treat with filters, bright & contrast, color treated, etc. and then claim as your own. That is so not cool.
You are welcome to use to create art--of any medium except for a dabble in photo software as mentioned--and I would appreciate (am not demanding) a link so I can see it too.
I ask that the stock images not be used to express STRONG political views (satire is welcomed), any religious fanaticism, gore, and debasement of any individual because of gender, religion, and sexual preference.
That's pretty much it!
Thanks for taking time to read this!

No way in hell am I going to draw every notebook. The photo I can keep as a remembrance of this stash (before selling most on e-bay, dirt-cheap by the way). As a drawing, though, it's going to look a little stale.
This needs to be more than a story of a woman (moi) who goes loopy at "Back to School" sales...so it needs a little flavah.

So. I took several photos of her hand at different angles and chose this one to attempt to draw.
(Anyone is welcome to use the hand pic; just send me a link cuz I wanna see your work!)
Two bold Bic cristal ballpoint pens (1.6mm), black and red, were used on Pacon standard weight paper.
After deciding the composition, I sketched (erased, sketched, erased, sketched, erasedsketchederased...you get the idea...very frustrating! :shakefist:) in pencil, before being satisfied enough to outline with the black pen.
Oh, the red doesn't signify blood, pain, or anything dark. It's
Lack of inspiration
So going to local library, and checking out Ancient Egypt by Philippe Legendre, http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5198WPCJNRL._AA160_.jpg, from Kids Can Draw series and using the book as reference, I got some good practice in drawing simple (and quite fun) pictures. Grown-ups are entitled! :D
Although the original pictures are in color, I used a Bic Cristal Bold black ballpoint pen. I wanted to practice and learn using different techniques in shading and shadows. (The paper is Pacon manila standard weight, and is not meant for professional art work. Quite rough and is basically meant only for rough sketches and such. Which is cool. I lik

Lovely work, and so true about the markings that come from life. They add character.
